Interview with Kajal Agarwal

How do you feel working in ‘Magadheera’?
I must first thank God for this opportunity. ‘Magadheera’ happened to me unexpectedly. This is one of the best opportunities to prove myself as an actress. For the first time I played dual role and both characters have a lot to emote. It is a thrilling experience to say, as I use to play the princess one day and the very next day a modern girl.

What is the specialty of the two roles you played?
It is known to all that the film is a love story on rebirth concept. The first character is the princess whose name is Mitrabrinda while the second character Indhu belongs to the modern age, i.e., after the re-birth of princess. She is a fashion designer. Since both characters belong to different ages, right from my costumes, body language, dialogues etc., has lots of contrast.

You have not done any mythological roles before. Then how did you manage to portray the princess role?
Yes! I took training in horse riding and sword fighting for the princess role. In some of the scenes without a single dialogue I needed to express through my eyes. Rajamouli sir would never okay the scene until he felt that I gave the right kind of expression.

Is there any horse riding and sword fighting scenes for you too?
As I said before one of characters in the film is princess and one has to watch the film to really understand the context.

How was it doing these scenes?
I use to feel as if I have gone back to hundreds of years ago. This movie is a very special one for me and the shooting experiences are the most unforgettable ones in my life.

Your working experience with Ram Charan Teja?
He is an amazing co-star. His performance, fights and dances are simply superb. It was a great experience while shooting the horse riding scenes.

RamCharan has a heart breaking lovestory in flashback...!

Ram Charan is playing a loverboy role is his 3rd movie which will be going on sets soon and in this movie , Charan has a heart breaking story in his flashback and he goes to Newyork where he meets Genelia but is not attracted towards her as his mind is occupied with his ex-lover's thoughts.
Kajal Agarwal is being tried for one of the heroine's role but since it's length will be lesser than the role of Genelia, insteading of rejecting she quoted high remuneration

Magadheera Phenomenon- 26 to 35 on 5th week

The ‘Magadheera’ mania has been on its heat since the day of its release and there have been many stories of people not getting tickets and getting back home. But now, all is about to change in the city of Hyderabad and the movie lovers.

Apparently, the makers have now increased the theatres from the existing 26 to 35 in twin cities which is a record in itself. Their objective is to meet the Family audience requirement and at the same time curtail the black marketers.

Now, with the increase in the theaters, across the counter ticket sales are happening which has helped the family audiences in a big way. Never before has any movie increased its theatres in such a large manner and that too after so many days of its release

Allu Arjun has hands full till 2010

Allu Arjun is the only top hero in Tollywood who is doing three films simultaneously. While most heroes are trying hard to finish one film at a time, he is effortlessly working on two films at one go. So one wonders how would he do another film - a supposedly remake of a Hindi film at this time? Close associates of the star rubbish the rumors of Allu Arjun signing a Hindi remake. As of now, Allu Arjun has signed only the following films..

It's official - Magadheera Crossed Pokiri

The Magadheera Mania has been taking over the entire southern circuit and now, it has become the talk of the nation. For now, the film has become the largest grosser with its latest figures in the history of the Telugu cinema. This means that Mahesh Babu's Pokiri is finally stepping down.

Official reports say that Magadheera has collected a whopping share of Rs 46 crores share after just the first three weeks of release. The theaters are still showing maximum capacity and this would mean that the movie will sail through the 50 day mark without a hitch.

While it is not sure where this mania will end but then the Telugu industry folks are happy with the fact that this has elevated the industry to a different level. Also, hero Ramcharan Teja seems to have come up with a riveting performance in this which has promoted him to be a better league actor.

Add the alphabets in Magadheera.M+A+G+A+D+H+E+E+R+A=63=6+3=9
Similarly do it for pokiri as well,P+O+K+I+R+I = 78=7+8=15=1+5=6
This proves magadheera is 11/2 times more hit than pokiri.

In India, most 3d computer graphics are happening in 8-bit colour depth, which is much inferior to the colour depth of film negative. That’s why, when we composite live & CG, the CG looks separate from the live “plate”. The only way to do a perfect composite is to follow the same colour-bit depth of the film negative. It needs an experienced, dedicated team to do so. As the VFX producer of the film my job is to find suitable studio/freelancer to deliver utmost quality at proper budget on time. So, we brought in Mr.Pete Draper of UK as our Pipeline Technical Director. Pete had worked with me in Ghajini ( Hindi). His knowledge in Pipeline setup, Renderfarm setup, 3D Particle flows are impeccable. He had also penned many 3D technical books. With the right mix of theoretical & practical knowledge, Pete landed at Hyderabad during the Stadium shooting, which was happening under EFX Prasad’s supervision.

I was in Iran during the schedule, finalising the CG stadium and City with Adel. The major portion of the film was shot in Anamorphic but to minimise the distortion, super 35 camera gate & lenses were used for the stadium episode. The Post-Production of the stadium was given to Prasad EFX, Chennai, a well-known facility. Headed by Mr.Hima Kumar, it has rich experience and had the right people to do the final composite. The producer gave me enough encouragement ( and budget ) to set-up our own Renderfarm in Chennai. The Pipeline, Pete set up, for the post is the “heart” of the process. EFX was lucky to’ve got him as TD. They won’t go back to 8-bit comp ever.

The post process was in several stages, after the scan. 3d-tracking, (or blocking for steady shots), export/import the tracked camera in the 3d-software, setup the light to match the live plate, render the back-ground plates, composite it and deliver. The live stadium had only 7 steps, in which live people were positioned in 6 steps. The remaining 12 steps are CG extension. Adel has done the 3d CG people to fill the CG steps and their actions, in a library of 3000 frames

So a typical composite will have live layer, Stadium layer, 3d people layer, sky layer, flags layer, digital soldiers layer & birds layer. ( All in several 16-bit file passes.) Pete has designed the Birds (particles) in two flows, one “flow” kept on “flying” around the stadium and the other flow takes off from a position dome and lands on a target dome. Director had used the birds in several shots effectively. Also the huge balloons over the live set denote where the CG structure to be positioned later in post and served as a reference for the 3d lighting.

It all went like clock work. On finishing stages of the stadium composite, I ventured to Iran again to work with Adel for the 3d city shots. The city-shots created entirely in CG. The shots where the two horses enter the city gates and the one fly-thru, which travels along the city and ends on top of the Lion’s wings are treat to watch. When we started the city-shot renders, it has taken several hours to render one frame. But Adel re-corrected the geometry and applied several path breaking ideas, so, even on 24th July, just a week before the film release, we were able to do corrections, render and submit. Adel designed the 3d horses with hero & villain and Pete designed the 3d people flocking behind the horses. Perfect team work.

Pawan Kalyan looking for scripts to direct Chiranjeevi !

Pawan Kalyan spoke to media persons on eve of his brother Megastar Chiranjeevi's birthday and said that he is seriously looking for scripts which would suit his brother.
